Presentation of mural and gift scheduled for Indigenous Peoples Day

Since 2020, Red Wing Arts, in partnership with the Prairie Island Indian Community, the City of Red Wing and Goodhue County, has collaboratively presented the Honoring Dakota Project, a process of community conversations and events that provide education to discover shared stories, bridge the communities, and create a space for healing. The project was developed out of the ongoing need to search out the wisdom and stories of the Dakota People and to acknowledge the Dakota as vital members of the Red Wing Community.
Three years later, the first phase of this collaboration culminates with the creation and presentation of a large-scale mural.
